Dimasa Rites and Ritual:

Baoham Basain:
It is celebrated on the first day of Dimasa New Year . The first month of Dimasa Calender is FAGUN BADAIN which corresponds to the  February Month of Englich Calender. Thus 1st February of every year is conceived as the  New year Day of Dimasa Calendar.  On revival of this Dimasa  BAOHAM BASAIN ( new year day) these is great contribution from the pioneering  socio-religious organization  SIBRAI BOSONG which was founded by  great religious and social reformer, gedema K C Bodo. He coined  the new year day of Dimasa  as BAOHAM BASAIN  whcih means Day of good willingness. The words BAO means think , HAM means good while BASAIN means day in Dimasa. So to say it is the day of  cultivation of good thought for the well being of whole universe.  Thus on the day of BAOHAM BASAIN, Dimsa people assembly in the early morning at OISWARKHO ( shrine of Dimasa ) to offer prayer to  HORAOLIM  along with almighty SIBARAI.  Hojai or Dori ( Priest) use to chant  the Dimasa holly book , Sibrai Bithai and Bashithai ( compiled by K C Bodo)  and assembled devotees follow him. Afterwards offerings to the HORAOLIM  will be distributed among them. Elder people also bless the younger people chanting  heavenly  words if  the later approached the former. Finally a religious discussion is held where  everyone can participate. It is worthy to mention that no animal sacrifice and drink are allowed in this
